  • 1.       AMFM Call for Presenters: The Association of Montana Floodplain Managers (AMFM) invites you to consider presenting at the Annual AMFM Conference, March 6-9, 2017 in Missoula. Abstracts must be received by December 30. Click here for more info.
  • 2.       Upcoming CFM Exam dates: The Montana DNRC is proctoring a CFM exam on December 12, 2016 at 1:00pm (with a morning prep session) in Helena. Additionally, there will be a CFM exam and prep session at the AMFM Conference in March (date/time TBA) in Missoula. Respond to this email or call me for more details on either exam.
  • 3.       Annual Silver Jackets Meeting in Glendive: The Montana Silver Jackets invite you to their annual meeting on Thursday, December 8 from 8:30am to 4:00pm in Glendive. This meeting serves to bring together multiple stakeholders to discuss levee issues in eastern Montana. State and federal agency representatives will be on hand to discuss both the US Army Corps’ levee program and FEMA’s levee certification process with local communities. An agenda and RSVP info will be posted on www.floodplain.mt.gov/silver-jackets later this week.
  • 4.       Wetter than normal winter forecasted for Montana: The Climate Prediction Center is predicting a wetter than normal winter for Montana, which also means more snow than we would “normally” see across Big Sky Country. As such, the DNRC will be pushing out information over the winter about how Floodplain Administrators and communities should prepare for potential flooding this winter/spring.
