There are still seats available for floodplain management courses at EMI that have been pre-approved for Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for CFMs. EMI courses are offered at the beautiful Emmitsburg, MD campus. If you are a state, local, or tribal government employee you may attend the training for FREE with all expenses covered except meals (meal tickets approx. $110/week).


E312 Fundamentals of Building Science

                   September 12-14, 2016
                        12 CECs for CFMs

This course is designed to present information on the risks posed by natural hazards, and the basic scientific and engineering concepts for hazard-resistant buildings and facilities. The course reviews information pertaining to impacts of wind, flood, earthquake, and wildland/ urban interface fire on the constructed environment, and explains key performance and construction issues related to floods, wind, wildfires, and earthquakes.

This course covers the Community Rating System (CRS), a nationwide initiative of FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). It describes activities eligible for credit under the 2013 CRS Coordinator's Manual, how a community applies, and how a community modifies an application to improve its classification. 



TO APPLY:  Complete a FEMA Form 119-25-1, General Admissions Application, with student signature and signature of supervisor or sponsoring agency official. State and local participants must submit their application through the State Emergency Management Training office. Tribal representatives can submit their application directly to NETC Admission Office. FEMA Regional employees should submit their application to their Regional Training Manager (RTM).
